Italialaisen runouden ilta

Two distinguished Italian poets, Vincenzo Mascolo and Marco Munaro, will appear at the Poetry Moon Festival to present their work and engage in a dialogue about the interplay between European cultural heritage, myth, and contemporary poetry.

Mascolo’s poetry draws from classical traditions, metalyrical reflection, and European mythology. His works challenge the reader to consider the depth and continuity of European identity and culture. A Finnish selection of his poems, Taivas ja kaupungit (The Sky and the Cities, Siltala), translated by Jouni Inkala, will be published in August.

Munaro’s poetry is rooted in landscape, light, and the emotional and sensory dimensions of human life. His poems explore love, loss, pain, and the organic force of growth, often through the lens of myth and cultural memory. A Finnish selection, Avattu granaattiomena (The Open Pomegranate), was published in 2019.

The event will feature readings in Italian and Finnish, along with a discussion on the role of poetry in today’s world.
