Hamdam Zakirov is an Uzbek poet and essayist who writes in Russian. He was born in Uzbekistan in 1966 and has worked as a playwright, literary scholar, and journalist. His poetry has been translated into more than ten languages. His works have been published in Finnish (Kaukana mereltä, ntamo, 2016), Estonian, Italian, and Russian. His most recent book, Doslovno (“Verbatim”), was published in Moscow in 2018. He moved to Finland in 2001 and currently lives in Helsinki.
Hamdam curated the Russian-language section of Saaristo, a contemporary poetry anthology published by Sivuvalo.
