José Luis Rico Carrillo is a poet and translator. He attended the National Fine Arts Institute Creative Writing Workshop in his hometown, under the direction of César Silva Márquez. He is the winner of the National Poetry Prize for Young Writers “Guillermo López Muñoz” the Premio Chihuahua Prize for the Arts and Sciences in the category of “Literature” with a specialty in poetry, and the National Prize for Young Poets “Francisco Cervantes Vidal”.
Blanco (2012), his first chapbook, was published by the independent publisher La Dïéresis. Duna (2013), his second chapbook, appeared through the Fondo Editorial Tierra Adentro. His book Jabalíes (2015) was published by the Fondo Editorial Tierra Adentro. His translations into Spanish include work by Bill Mohr, Edward Myers, Annie Ernaux, Michel Butor and Ludovic Halévy. José is currently a Young Artists Program fellow of the Mexican National Endowment for Arts and Culture.
