Maria Matinmikko is a poet and essayist living in Helsinki. Her most recent book, poetry-novel Kolkka, was published in February 2020 (Siltala) and it was nominated for the Runeberg prize’s long list. Previously, she has published the books Valkoinen, Musta and Värit, which form a fictional composition. Valkoinen was awarded the Tanssiva karhu prize in 2012 and it was nominated for the Helsingin Sanomat literature prize. Värit was awarded the Kalevi Jäntti prize. Matinmikko’s literature combines poetic, philosophical and societal thinking. She has graduated as a Master of Arts from the University of Helsinki aesthetics as her major subject.
