Sara Ventroni (Rome 1974) is a poet and writer. She has published the theater play Salomè (No Reply, 2005), the multifarious literary meditation Nel Gasometro (Le Lettere 2006, Napoli Prize recipient 2007; translated into German in 2016 as Im Gasometer, ed. Korrespondenzen, Wien) and the poetry collections La Sommersione (Aragno, 2016; Trivio Prize 2018) and Le relazioni (Aragno, 2019). Her poetry has been translated into several languages (German, English, French, Spanish, Serbian, Croatian, Slovenian, Hungarian). Her short stories have been published into various anthologies. She was an editorialist of L’Unità newspaper. She has collaborated with Italian broadcasting RAI RADIO3 and with several musicians (Alberto Mandarini, Maria Pia De Vito, Alessandro D’Alessandro, Canio Lo Guercio). She is a collaborator of the Fondazione Gramsci and the Fondazione Nilde Iotti. She is co-founder of the women’s association Se non ora quando LIBERE.
Recently she has translated a selection of Walt Whitman’s Leaves of Grass (Contengo moltitudini, Ponte alle Grazie 2019) and she has published the poem “The Ribbon” (Italian/English, Schlebruegge Wien 2021).
She is currently a senior research fellow at the ILIESI (Institute for the European Intellectual Lexicon and History of Ideas) part of the CNR (National Research Council).
