Tomas Mikael Bäck (b. 1946) is a poet, who examines the human mind from a philosophical perspective in his poems. In Bäck’s works, the core is communication between the human and the world, and oriental philosophy has affected both the tone and the themes of the poems. Bäck’s poetry book De tysta gatorna was awarded the Nordic Council Literature Prize in 2016 and Edith Södergran prize in 2014. Bäck has worked also as a librarian and critic.
