This year marks the 125th anniversary of the birth of Martta Bröyer (1897–1979). Bröyer, one of the pioneers of modern dance in Finland, created her own style in the 1920’s and 30’s, in which dance was accompanied by poetry recitation. The art form that, in it’s time, had a conflicted reception, now inspires dance artist Tiia Hämäläinen and sound artist Marika Hyvärinen. In this workshop Hämäläinen and Hyvärinen guide and introduce us to poems and we experiment how they can be interpreted through movement. The workshop is open to everyone and doesn’t require background in dancing.
The workshop is executed in collaboration with Poetry Moon Festival, and is a part of the Poetry Moon OFF-event.
On Friday 26.8. at 6–8 p.m. at Villa Hakasalmi.
