Poet Miia Toivio performs at Taidekoti Kirpilä on the Night of the Arts, Thursday, August 14, from 5 to 6 PM.
The performance It Was the Echo of Your Voice, which emphasizes the sonic and phonetic qualities of poetry, explores turning toward the absent, echo, and repetition as core poetic elements. It awakens presence, unearths echoes, and brings them to life. The poems featured in the event are selected from Toivio’s collections Loistaen olet (Shining, You Are), Pysty hiljaisuus (Upright Silence), Sukupuutot (Extinctions), and Hukka nukka tukka. Some of the poems are from the collection Suut (Mouths), co-authored with Marko Niemi.
