Seikka II: Installation concert

Recorded fragments of poetry resonate from paper speakers. Sounds sprout from the silences—perhaps it is music. From the center of the panels, a harp’s wooden frame rises, its strings waiting. They, and they speak—reading their writing. Slowly, slowly the piece walks the tightrope of time, slipping into the past; while now the senses shift into unexpected positions. Various aspects begin to take shape.

The second part of Olli Moilanen’s interdisciplinary Seikka performance series brings an installation concert to the Runokuu (Poetry Moon) festival. Spoken poetry, paper speakers, electronic music, and the premiere of Moilanen’s harp solo Tapahtui (“It Happened”) intertwine in the piece. The speaker modules were built by multidisciplinary artist Priss Niinikoski. On stage and in the speakers are Simone Goldschmidt-Lechner (translated by Suvi Valli) and Tuukka Pietarinen. Maaria Pulakka plays the Harp. The poetry was curated in collaboration with the Nuoren Voiman Liitto.

Olli Moilanen’s work is supported by the Kone Foundation, Priss Niinikoski’s work by the Arts Promotion Centre Finland, and the creation of the piece was supported with a materials grant from the Arts Promotion Centre Finland.
