What does co-writing do to the form and poetics of the essay?
This discussion explores collaboratively written essays published in the poetry journal Tuli & Savu, as well as their processes, and more broadly examines co-writing and notions of authorship in essay writing.
In co-writing, boundaries begin to blur—not only between humans and other species, but also between different art forms and genres of writing. The essayistic “I” and the notion of voice also start to take new shapes. By promoting collaborative writing, Tuli & Savu aims to bring together diverse creators and poetics, whose intersections can give rise to fruitful encounters.
The panel features essayist and doctoral researcher Aurora Ala-Hakula, poet and doctoral researcher Riikka Simpura, performance artist and writer Sanna Hirvonen, and writer and visual artist Tiina Lehikoinen. The discussion is moderated by Tuli & Savu’s editor-in-chief, poet Elina Sallinen.
