Miia Toivio (b. 1974) is a poet based in Helsinki, with roots in Southern Ostrobothnia. She has worked extensively in the field of poetry, including as the editor-in-chief of the poetry magazine Tuli&Savu and with the cooperative Poesia.
Currently, she serves as the program director and lecturer in the writing program at the University of the Arts Helsinki’s Theatre Academy. Toivio has published four poetry collections: her debut work “Loistaen olet” (Teos) was published in 2007. Her latest work, “Sukupuutot” (Teos, 2019), won the Nihil Interit Poetry Prize and was nominated for the Einari Vuorela Prize. In 2021, she was awarded the Eino Leino Prize.
