Meet & Greet: Visual Artist Kaija Hinkula & Author Minna Mikkonen
You Are Here / Olet tässä is an interdisciplinary exhibition in which painting and writing expand into a spatial whole through the collaboration between a visual artist and a writer.
The works construct an abstract space that explores the possibilities of alternative world orders. At the centre of the exhibition, the map functions as a speculative framework: not as a tool for navigation, but as a way of reflecting on place and orientation. The visual languages of maps, traffic signs, and guidance systems are diverted from their original purposes — they begin to mislead, delay, or open parallel routes. The exhibition suggests that the logic of navigation can and should be reimagined. Getting lost, wandering, and detours invite us to imagine new directions and logics at a time when familiar signs no longer lead to the desired outcomes.
At Poetry Moons’s Meet & Greet event, Hinkula & Mikkonen will share thoughts on their interdisciplinary and cross-artistic working process.
