The Nuori/Voima-club at Poetry Moon Festival is about celebrating the publication of Nuori Voima magazine’s issue themed “deeper”!
Meriam Trabelsi and Ajak Majok come to discuss the strain that feminist work has on marginalized workers. People in the marginal of marginals, for whom work is the most heavy on, do equality work as prerequisite of life. What lies on the background of the phenomenon, and what is the role of allies in dismantling it? The discussion is hosted by visiting editor Fiona ’Elōne.
Also performing at the club the winners of Nuori Voima magazine’s Debut as a Poet writing contest, Liinu Yli-Hongisto and Sonja Kaisanlahti, presented by the head judge Veera Kiurujoki. The winning texts, for example, depict nature in rich language, and make wild and wise perceptions of family relations.
The poet and musician Moriamo Ahmed performs poems about longing for love, presence, and lack. Also known as DJ Mojo, Ahmed plays records during the evening, diving into 90’s house.
Music is also played by Olento Orchestral, whose rough rune singin-folk-pop reaches toward light, but ends up in the gray areas of life.
During the event, the photo exhibition “Thoughts of girlhood” of the Turkish-Iranian artist, dancer, and photographer Melissa Linsa is on display.
As usual, the night will be hosted by the editor of Nuori Voima, Taija Roiha.
The club takes place at the hall of Tiivistämö.
