Poetry Moon OFF: Friday

Poetry Moon OFF is a new part of Poetry Moon’s programme. The event will be held August 26th and 27th, mainly at the stage of Rosebud Sivullinen bookstore. OFF is an opportunity for diverse actors of the Finnish literary scene to organize their own events during Poetry Moon.

2.30 pm the event begins with Vesa Tompuri reading from Hannu Salama’s poetry collection Puu balladin haudalla. From 3 to 4 pm the poets Eeva Vänskä, Jouni Tossavainen, and Henri Hirvenoja will read their poems. Hirvenoja is interviewed by Kirsi-Marja Moberg.

4 – 5 pm is the interview of the author Tom Arnkil.

5 – 6 pm it’s time for the traditional Non-Fiction Book Panel, where non-fiction writers compete by reading from their books, and try to win over the panel and the audience. Competing: Ari Haasio, Suvi Ratinen, and Ville-Juhani Sutinen. Panelists: Kaarina Hazard, Ville Blåfield, and Kasper Strömman. Host: Katleena Kortesuo. Organized by Suomen tietokirjailijat, supported by Tietokirjallisuuden edistämiskeskus.

6 – 7 pm Marko Korvela and Anu Keskitalo discuss their newly published poetry books with conceptual artist Juha-Pekka Väisänen. Afterwards, Sara Vallioja reads from her collection regarding urban citylife.

7 – 8 pm this Autumn’s debut poets Petra Vallila and Riikka Simpura disscuss language, poetry, and their works’ backgrounds and themes.

8 – 9 pm OFF-Friday ends playfully, when writers of Tuli & Savu magazine’s “play” themed issue perform.
