Poetry Moon OFF: Saturday

Poetry Moon OFF is a new part of Poetry Moon’s programme. The event will be held August 26th and 27th, mainly at the stage of Rosebud Sivullinen bookstore. OFF is an opportunity for diverse actors of the Finnish literary scene to organize their own events during Poetry Moon.

2 – 3 pm The event opens with performance “Runoröntgen” by poet Jenni Hurmerinta, where participants can have Hurmerinta make a poetic portrait of them.

3 – 4 pm Artists of Suomen Lausujain Liitto present extracts from last years poetry. Readers: Talvikki Eerola, Milla Hilke, Jussi Lankoski and Annika Niemelä.

4 – 5 pm The poetry group Runoryhmä Säie recites translated poetry edited by Parkko publishing, including poems by Paul Celan, T.S Eliot, Jaan Kaplinski and Tõnu Õnnepalu. Reciting: Sampo Harju, Hillevi Kilpeläinen, Maija Paunio and Lari Ylönen. Afterwards, Pirjo Kotamäki recites role poems of her collection Pompeji with Lari Ylönen.

5 – 6 pm Young contemporary poets Eeva Åkerblad and Aleksi Wilenius perform. Åkerblad’s Huolenpitoja studies the themes of care and solicitude. Wilenius’ Älä kerro tätä – tunnustuksia, contemplates the true nature of the self.

6 – 7 pm Lina Bonde and Maiju Pohjola deal with themes regarding motherhood and parenthood in Bonde’s book om er mamma & om mig and Pohjola in her book Ettei yötä enää.

7 pm Lea Kalenius performs with her poetry collection Tupakoin beigessä tuulessa , and 8 – 9 pm the event ends with Hillevi Kilpeläinen, who recites poems by Helvi Hämäläinen, and by performing an extract from her monologue Minä kirjoitan, minä kirjoitan- monologi Helvi Hämäläisen elämästä.

Poetry Moon OFF event is free of charge. All events in Finnish, or Swedish.

Poem – Vision – Flush: A Dancedramatic series”. Poems used by Martta Bröyer meet contemporary poetry, and the influences of her motion language melt into contemporary dance. Performers: dance artist Tiia Hämäläinen and sound artist Marika Hyvärinen.

WHEN: Saturday 27.8. at 12, 2 and 4 pm

WHERE: The yard of Burgher’s House Museum (Kristianinkatu 12), and if it rains, the lobby of Helsinki City Museum (Aleksanterinkatu 16).
