Safer space principles
At Poetry Moon we follow the safer space principles. At our events, we try our best to encourage these guidlines with our own actions, in designing spaces, and informing the staff, performers, and the audience.
- Everyone has the right to be respected as themselves. Please respect other’s physical and mental integrity, opinions, and human dignity. Everyone has the right to excuse themselves from a situation or conversation they do not feel comfortable in. Please do not take pictures of people without their consent.
- Please do not to assume anyone’s gender, nationality, sexual orientation, culture, language, religion, values, state of health, or ability to function. Please do not make conclusions based on anyone’s looks, behavior, or assumed socio-economic status.
- Please aim for creating a friendly and safe atmosphere around you. Give others space. Be open to other people, listen, and use respectful language. Please do not speak in a way that assumes anyone’s gender or other qualities. Please do not to use stereotyping, othering, or degrading language. If, however, you by accident hurt someone by your speech, please apologize.
- In case you notice inappropriate behavior, or feel threatened, do not hesitate to ask for help from the personnel of Poetry Moon and the venues. If you feel that you have faced harrassment at our events without it being addressed, please be in touch with acting producer Mandi Markkanen: , or +358 44 207 4651
