When Jouni Inkala, Riina Katajavuori, Jyrki Kiiskinen, and Helena Sinervo were young poets, Finland was struggling through the recession of the 1990s. The Soviet Union, once believed eternal, collapsed, and the Berlin Wall fell. In the middle of the decade, Finland joined the EU and, like many others, rushed to benefit from the free global market economy.
This new recession has different tones, and the fractures shaping the world are different as well. A new cycle is beginning — but what kind? What does time feel like as an inner and outer experience?
Discussion at the Permantosali hall of Tekstin talo on Saturday, August 22, from 2 pm to 4 pm.
Free admission.
