Discussion: Diasporic Poetics

What is it like to write poetry in a language and in a country you were not born in? Can a writer have multiple mother’s tongues? The discussion explores how these factors shape the emotional resonance and the question of poetic tradition in poetry. The event is supported by Versopolis.

Turkish poet Çağla Aribal, who lives and works in Berlin, and the Dutch poet of Moroccan descent, Nisrine Mbarki, unravel the complexities of diasporic poetry, and its impact on poet’s personal and literary identity. Both poets will be performing in the Runojazz Poemszz -event the same evening.

In collaboration with Versopolis Network.
