What does poetry make possible across languages, borders, and literary traditions? In this discussion, the 2026 Versopolis guest poets Merima Dizdarević and Berta García Faet join Finnish poets Sini Silveri and Reetta Pekkanen for a conversation on poetry, artistic practice, and the shifting role of the poet in today’s world. Together, the poets reflect on writing, translation, literary communities, and the different cultural contexts that shape their work. The discussion is moderated by Saara Tamminen and is held in English.
The event is part of the Poetry Moon festival, which is a member of the Versopolis network.
Founded in 2014, Versopolis is a European poetry platform dedicated to creating new and sustainable opportunities for emerging poets. The platform supports the international mobility, visibility, and recognition of authors while fostering long-term artistic exchange across borders. Versopolis has been selected three times for the Creative Europe initiative “Support for European Platforms,” reflecting its significant cultural impact and ongoing relevance within the European literary field.
Each year, Poetry Moon invites two international poets from the Versopolis network to Finland. In return, as a partner festival, Poetry Moon nominates two Finnish poets to the Versopolis platform, where their work becomes part of a wider European network, opening opportunities for invitations to other poetry festivals across Europe.
