Poetics Conference: Breath

Poetics Conference is an open, seminar-like event aimed at poets, writers, and literary scholars, as well as anyone interested in questions of poetics.

The conference continues the tradition of the Helsinki Poetics Conference, established 20 years ago as a parallel event to Runokuu, and held in various forms and settings between 2005 and 2012. The purpose of the Poetics Conference is to sustain dialogue between researchers, poets, artists from other fields, and the audience. The audience is encouraged to engage not only with the speakers but also in discussion with one another.

The theme of the 2026 Poetry Moon Poetics Conference is breath. The theme opens up perspectives on the rhythm and language of poetry, as well as more broadly on experiences of being, embodiment, and shared space. Breath can be understood as a biological, political, and aesthetic phenomenon: a continuous exchange in and out, between the individual and the environment.

The speakers are Jonis Hartman, A. V. Marraccini, Merima Dizdarević, Antti Salminen and Berta García Faet.

The languages of the event are English and Finnish.

Free admission.
